Description
The LM22670 switching regulator provides all of thefunctions necessary to implement an efficient highvoltage step-down (buck) regulator using a minimumof external components. This easy-to-use regulatorincorporates a 42-V N-channel MOSFET switch thatcan provide up to 3 A of load current. Excellent lineand load regulation along with high efficiency (> 90%)are featured. Voltage mode control offers shortminimum ontime, allowing the widest ratio betweeninput and output voltages. Internal loop compensationmeans that the user is free from the tedious task ofcalculating the loop compensation components. Fixed5-V output and adjustable output voltage options areavailable. The default switching frequency is set at500 kHz, thus allowing for small external componentsand good transient response. in addition, thefrequency can be adjusted over a range of 200 kHzto 1 MHz with a single external resistor. The internaoscillator can be synchronized to a system clock or tothe oscillator of another regulator. A precision enableinput allows simplification of regulator control andsystem power sequencing. In shutdown mode theregulator draws only 25 uA (typical). Built in soft-start500 us, typical) saves external components. TheM22670 device also has builtin thermal shutdown.and current limiting to protect against accidentaloverloads.
